Community Development

Community Involvement

The Association has always played an active part in the local community and is involved in a number of community driven projects that are either ongoing or in the pipeline.

When Govan's famous Pearce Institute was in danger of closing, which would have been a tremendous loss to the community, the Association got together with local people and its public sector partners to produce a rescue plan. The Association is represented on the new Management Group that is breathing new life into the building for the benefit of the community.

With the aid of grant funding from the Community Regeneration Fund and Communities Scotland the Association employs an Community Inclusions Officer. This post holder works closely with all local housing providers to ensure a coordinated approach to community issues.

The Association has a strong commitment to tenant participation and promotes involvement by residents in its work. Community Safety is a major issue for the Association. As a member of Streetwatch South we developed and part funded a six-camera CCTV system that links into a 24 hour monitored control centre operated by Streetwatch Glasgow.
