Govan Portal

The Portal is at the corner of Howat Street and Govan Road, at 976 to 978 Govan Road.  These shops are a gateway site into Central Govan, yet their poor condition was depressing local people and visitors for many years.

Govan Housing Association has upgraded and refurbished three derelict shop units that have been empty for twenty years to create the "Govan Portal".  These have been  rented out as workspace for individuals, groups and small arts organisations.

Space has been provided to develop ideas, build consensus and deliver new projects.  Workspaces available at the Govan Portal enable the flow of ideas and creative work of international quality from Glasgow and Govan.  Two of the first three units provide space for our partners, local arts organisations - Roots in the Community and Plantation Productions.  The third unit is a pottery, where ceramics and pottery are designed and manufactured.
