Information on Jim Stephen House
Jim Stephen House is supported, purpose-built housing for up to 12 older people. It is attached to sheltered housing and is set within the local community in central Govan with easy access to shops, transport and all community services. The houses are close to the River Clyde and adjacent to the historic Govan Old Parish Church. The accommodation offers a domestic style of living in a small group setting. Within Jim Stephen House, tenants are encouraged and enabled to carry on with all the activities of daily living. Tenants are helped to maintain their links with the community and to use all local community facilities.
Home cooked meals are provided in our comfortable dining room. The general choice of foods is discussed between tenants and the staff with individual preference taken into account.
The staff who work in the unit ensure that a warm, friendly and safe environment is created for tenants. The staff provide supportive assistance with staff on duty every day.
While we do not provide personal care facilities, our staff work and liaise with other service providers particularly Home Care staff and district nurses. We also have a built-in alarm system operated by Beild who can respond to emergency calls for assistance when the staff are off duty.
Because meals are provided, there are no kitchen facilities in the individual flats, however many tenants choose to have a fridge, microwave, kettle, etc. in their own flats. The fully equipped laundry is for use by tenants and Home Care staff.
