Types of Repairs
When you report a repair, we will assess what type of repair it is. There are three types of day to day repair - Emergency, Urgent and Routine.
Emergency Repairs
Emergency repairs are those where there is a hazard to life, a safety risk or where there is the potential for ongoing damage to the property.
Examples of Emergency Repairs are:

Burst Pipes causing flooding

Blocked toilet

Total electrical failure

Boarding up a broken window
We aim to respond to emergencies within three hours. Please note that the emergency service will often only make the situation safe (e.g. cut off water supply; board up window).

Urgent Repairs
Urgent repairs are those that need to be carried out quickly but where there is no immediate health, safety and security risk. Examples of urgent repairs are
- Blocked drains or sanitary fittings
- Minor leaks
- Re-Glazing following windows being boarded up
- Insecure external door or window
- Central heating/hot water failure
- Faulty smoke detector
- Toilet not flushing (where there is no other toilet in the property)
We aim to complete urgent repairs within one day.
Routine Repairs
Routine repairs cover most other repairs including those which do not impose a threat to health, safety or security, or which do not cause substantial inconvenience, for instance repairs to internal doors, minor electrical repairs, repairs to bathroom and kitchen fittings and replacement of tap washers.
We aim to complete routine repairs within ten working days.
Right to Repair
The Housing (Scotland) Act (and not Govan HA) sets the length of time within which we must carry out some repairs. This includes repairs to heating, blocked toilets, unsafe electrical socket, insecure door or window, etc.
