Tenant Hardship Loan Fund for Tenants in Rent Arrears

Have you accrued a rent arrear balance from January 2020?  If so, did you know that at the end of August 2020, the Scottish Government announced the creation of a £10M Tenant Hardship Loan Fund as a further support intervention in their response to the coronavirus crisis.

This fund will offer loans to tenants (both private and social renters) who are struggling to pay their rent as a result of changes in employment and/or financial circumstances. The arrears must have accrued during the pandemic.

The assistance will be given in the form of an interest free loan. Repayments will be deferred and the loan will be repayable over a number of years.

The loan will be available from early December 2020 and will be administered by the Energy Savings Trust on behalf of Scottish Government.
