Scottish Child Payment

Scottish Child Payment will open for applications for all eligible children under the age of 16 from Monday 14 November.

The payment, which is unique to Scotland, provides direct financial support to eligible families and carers to help with the costs of caring for a child.

From 14 November, around 104,000 children already getting Scottish Child Payment for their children under 6 will automatically see their awards increase to £25.

You may be able to get Scottish Child Payment if all of the following apply:

  • You live in Scotland
  • You or your partner are getting certain benefits or payments
  • You or your partner are the main person looking after a child who’s under 16 years old (applications from 14 November)
  • The main person looking after your child (if any) might want to complete the application form, or use their bank details for payment.

  • Child Tax Credit
  • Income Support
  • Pension Credit
  • Working Tax Credit
